Mistake #1: On Cameras’ Selection
Most Installers ignore aspect of the room where the cameras are to be installed, they usually go with the cameras they can get for less or the ones that look physically better or, the best of the installers, will go with the higher resolution cameras without regards of what the room demands. As a result, they leave too many areas out of the coverage range or the opposite, sometimes you see too much of the walls that you don’t need to see. Sometimes you see too much of the sky like if the thieve would come on an airplane.
How FNC Services overcomes that:
Put it this way, a professional photographer will adjust the lens, zoom in or out and focus depending on what he/she needs to capture and the room’s dimensions, we’ll do the same, we will select the camera that has the right lens or an adjustable lens to meet excellence, because when the camera captures more than what you need to see (walls, ceiling, sky etc.), not only it wastes space and efficiency, it also captures less details of what really matters, the bigger the angle of view the more things you see, but also the less details, for example, if you have a wide angle camera to see an entire store, you may see everybody in it but you may not be able to tell the characteristics of their faces, what bill denomination they paid with, what’s on their hands etc. In contrast, if you employ the use of a camera with a narrowed viewing angle and zoomed in to the cash register area, it should be able to capture faces and/or bill denominations and other things in more details. Cameras need to capture the images that matter the most and then some, so we’ll reduce the viewing angle till the walls and ceilings are eliminated from the picture so you can see more of the people and the objects in the room. Selecting the camera is vital to the quality of the job and a quality job is the only way to compensate the customer’s investment… Choose wisely.
Mistake # 2: Cameras Location
Most installers would just install the cameras where the customers tell them or where it is easier instead of where it makes sense. The result is often so much brightness on the background, coming from outside windows and doors that you can’t even identify the object and/or people in front, they ignore the configuration of the room way too often and this is a big problem during the day because the cameras located against the bright light will not serve their purpose, they are absolutely useless and will waist your money, sound familiar?
How FNC Services overcomes that:
Let’s explain lighting, like a professional photographer, we would avoid having the objects/people to be watched between the light and the cameras as much as possible, otherwise, the lights in the background will outshine the image sensor on the camera and the object/people will be seen as a dark body making it very difficult or impossible to identify them, we either place the cameras closer to the light side or utilized specialty cameras called Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) that reduce the background lights and increase the light on the object/people.
How would professional photographers do it? They will try as much as possible to locate themselves on the same side as the light while their models stay on the opposite side, if they can’t and their models must be placed between the bright light and their camera, then they select cameras with WDR image sensor and that’s exactly what we do.
Never install the cameras higher than the light fixtures, always set them below such fixtures.
Mistake # 3: Post installation education/service
A big percentage of installers will install the cameras’ system, show the customer the cameras are working and leave, a smaller percentage of them will download the mobile app on their smart phones and explain how they can see recorded events. The problem with that is that customers may not have a critical event to go back to very often and will therefore forget how to retrieve such records, customers may change their mobile phones and will need to pay the installers to go back and set their new smart phones again. Most customers don’t even know how to change the system password so they use the default password provided by the installers lacking confidentiality.
How FNC SERVICES overcomes that
To begin with we provide a session to explain things like how to change and manage passwords and password privileges, how to retrieve recorded events and we inform the customers about the functions of the system and the things they can have it do, like taking snapshot at a preset schedule and send via e-mail automatically. For maximum privacy, we guide the customer on how to create their own user name and password, and educate them on the different users access levels, the actual customer may have full access while the manager can access all the cameras but may not have enough privilege access to change system configuration and a supervisor may have access to some but not all cameras, it’s all dependent of the customer’s own needs.
What if you need help days, weeks, months or even years after installation? Well, we will begin by giving you certain amount of hours of free remote or on site assistance for certain time after the installation. Furthermore, when you need help setting up with things like setting up a mobile app or retrieving recorded videos, we offer video tutorials at no charge upon request. Lastly, if the customer needs or wants us to go back for maintenance, to make technical changes or to help them get a hard copy of a recorded video/event we’ll always be available. We believe it’s all in the education and the guaranteed service when needed and we leave it all in writing, can our competitors say that?
